Craft time at Auntie's

Yesterday Peyton and I stopped by my sister's house just in time for arts and crafts!  I am so glad that my sister is artistic and does a lot of projects with her girls because that is a skill I severely lack in.  So Peyton will get to indulge her artistic side over at Auntie's (still trying to find a good name for my sister) house!  Yesterday's project was finger painting a special Mother's Day gift for the grandma's.  I won't show the final product but here is Peyton in action.  She loved it!

All ready to go in her paint smock :)

Hmm what's this gooey stuff?

Ok, how do I do this?

Finger painting is fun!

Thanks Auntie!  You're the best!

4 months (a little late)

At 4 months Peyton:

  • Is sleeping in her crib!  We finally made the transition about a week after she turned 4 months.  Jason literally had to make me put her in there one night but she did great (while I was glued to the monitor most of the night!).  The first couple of nights she woke up more than usual but was quickly back to her normal schedule of sleeping 10 hours.
  • Loving her feet!
  • Weighed in at 12lbs 4 oz, 24 1/4 inches
  • Is a chatterbox!  She loves to talk and has recently started squealing as loud and as high pitched as she can!
  • Seems to be developing a little bit of a temper. Sometimes those high pitched squeals take on a tone that means "Feed me NOW" :)
  • Is beginning to laugh - it's adorable and we will do anything to get it out of her!
  • Is starting to scoot around.  Every morning I find her scooted all the way to the bottom of the crib with her feet up against the slats.  She is also able to scoot herself in a circle on the floor.  I have a feeling we will have a mobile baby before too long!
  • Is continuing to bring us more joy and happiness than we could imagine!

Rollin

Peyton surprised us tonight by rolling over from tummy to back for the first time!  Jason put her on her tummy on our bed and the next thing we knew over she went!  She did it several times and again on the floor so we know it's not a fluke.  We are so proud of her!

Three Months

At 3 months Peyton is:

  • Still sleeping through the night!  She averages 10 hours a night and it is wonderful for all of us!
  • Chatting up a storm!  She loves to talk to her toys and to Mommy and Daddy :)
  • Starting to grab her toys
  • Has great head control
  • Doing great being at Lainie and Grandpa's house everyday since I went back to work (much better than Mommy is doing!)
  • An easy going, happy little girl!

Happy Valentine's Day

Peyton had a great 1st Valentine's Day!  Jason took the day off and we started the morning with Peyton's 2 month Dr. visit.  She is doing great!  She weighed in at 10 lbs 7 oz and 23 inches long!  She had to get two shots but was very brave and only cried for a minute (oh how those cries of pain broke me heart!).  She took a long nap when we got home and only fussed a little bit when she woke up.  She was in a great mood the rest of the day, giving us lots of smiles and coos!

Jason and I made a nice dinner at home and bought a bottle of champagne.  For dessert I made homemade individual deep dish cookies.  I've really been enjoying baking while I've been on maternity leave and this was my best creation yet!
Served hot out of the oven with a scoop of fudge swirl ice cream

Two Months

Peyton turned two months this week!  At two months she is:

  • Sleeping through the night.  She has been consistently sleeping 8 or more hours a night for the past 3 weeks.
  • Sucking on her hands
  • Showing much more interest in her toys
  • Smiling at her reflection in the mirror on her bouncy seat and swing
  • Growing like a weed!  We have her two month appointment on Tuesday and I can't wait to see how much she weighs
  • Smiling and cooing
  • Kicking her feet - I think she's going to be a runner like her Daddy!

Jason and I just fall more and more in love with her everyday and feel so lucky to be her parents!
