7 Months

At 7 months Peyton:

  • Is doing great eating solids.  Her favorites are apples, pears and sweet potatoes. She does not like carrots.
  • Is sleeping great.  She goes down for the night around 8 and wakes up around 7.  She takes 3 naps a day.
  • Is sitting great on her own.  She's starting to learn to put her hands down when she lunges forward for toys.  We've had a few faceplants though.
  • Is scooting backwards.  She gets a little frustrated because she's not getting where she wants to go, but she'll keep going backwards until she runs into something.  Crawling is in our near future!
  • Is constantaly babbling dadadada.  I keep responding with mamama :)
  • Loves to stand and it's taking less and less assistance from us to pull up.
  • Loves to bounce!  My arms get a workout keeping her bouncing all day!
  • Enjoyed her first time at the pool.  Hopefully we can make it a weekly trip this summer.
  • Gives the most wonderful, sloppy, slobbery kisses
  • Enjoys her bedtime stories and helps Jason turn the pages
  • Likes listening to music and bopping along
  • Is growing up too fast!  I wish time would slow down just a bit!

4th of July

Peyton's first 4th of July was a hot one (over 100 degrees!) but we still enjoyed spending time with friends and family.  We went to our friends Luke and Kim's for a bit and then headed to the Cardinals game (also a first for Peyton!).  It was so hot even in our shaded seats that we didn't stay for the whole game, but Peyton was great.  She enjoyed just looking around and didn't fuss at all despite the heat.  She really is such a good baby!

We also celebrated my sister's birthday!

We ended the day with relaxing bath :)
We had a great time celebrating Jason's first Father's Day.  It was filled with family, food, and lots of love for all the dads in our lives :)

6 months

I can't believe Peyton is 6 months old already!  In some ways it seems like she just arrived in our lives, but in many others it seems like she has always been here.  It's hard to remember what life was like before!  As much as I want time to slow down I know the next six months will fly by we'll be celebrating her first birthday before we know it!

At 6 months Peyton:

  • Is sitting up unassisted for longer and longer periods of time.  She'll tumble eventually but I'd say she's officially sitting up on her own!
  • Has started eating solids!  So far we've tried rice cereal, applesauce, avocado and sweet potatoes.  She wasn't too sure about it at first but now loves to eat! Next up: pears, bananas, and carrots!
  • Is sleeping through the night again!  Sleep has been a little rough the past month or two but got really bad last week. Like waking up every 45 min-hour bad.  Luckily we were able to make some changes to the bedtime routine and help Peyton with self-soothing and she went back to sleeping 10-11 hours with no wake ups.  Such a relief for Jason and me.  We have been spoiled with a good sleeper for so long that we forgot how terrible sleep deprivation can be for everyone.
  • Loves to play with faces.  When I nurse her she constantly plays with my face or my hair.  It melts my heart!  Yesterday she started playing with my eyelashes.  Talk about attention to detail!
  • Weighed in at 14 lbs 3oz (17%), 25 1/2 inches long (42%)
  • Is laughing all the time.  It's adorable!
  • Was a star at her 6 month photo shoot.  The photographer repeated throughout the session not only how cute she was but also how good she was.  She said Peyton was one of the best babies she had ever photographed!  I'm dying to see the pictures.  I know they will turn out great.  I'll share the link when they are up!
  • Loves to be outside
  • Is really starting to enjoy bath time and splashing up a storm!
  • Makes Jason and me so very happy :)

5 months

At 5 months Peyton is:

  • Getting close to sitting on her own.  She can balance for a short time and seems to enjoy this new viewpoint on the world!
  • So smiley and happy
  • Starting to teethe
  • Not sleeping quite as well at night but overall still sleeps pretty good .  I think this is due to teething and being in some discomfort at night.
  • Very observant.  People always comment how alert she is.
  • Starting to show some stranger anxiety.  She will stick her little lip out and get teary eyed if someone tries to interact with her before she is quite ready.  Once she knows Mommy and Daddy are close by she warms up pretty quickly.
  • Loves to stand.  The girl just wants to walk!
  • Still very vocal and experimenting with her voice
  • Growing up too fast!  The past 5 months have flown by!

Mother's Day

I had a wonderful first Mother's Day.  It's still a little weird to think of myself as a mom, but it truly is the best part of my life.  I could not have asked for a better little girl in Peyton or husband and partner in Jason.  I am so in love with my little family!

Saturday we spent the day relaxing and running errands and Jason grilled out and gave me my gifts.  Peyton made me a beautiful painting (she's very advanced;)) and Jason gave me a gift card to the Muny so I can pick a show to see later this summer!  I loved them both!  Sunday we hosted the other Mom's in my family for a brunch.  All of the mom's had a great day and were spoiled by their little girls :)  We had a relaxing afternoon and then a delicious dinner at Oceano with Jason's family.  All around a perfect day celebrating all the mom's in our life!

My gift from Peyton :)
