6 years

Jason and I celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary last month.  A couple of weeks prior to our anniversary we enjoyed dinner out at Farmhaus followed by drinks on the patio at Farrotos.  We had an awesome dinner and when my mom called on our way home and reported that all 3 kids were asleep we took advantage and went for one more drink.  It was a great night and we talked a lot about all that we have achieved in the past 6 years - namely 3 beautiful babies!

Our actual anniversary fell on a Saturday and we decided to spend it celebrating with this little family of ours.  We started the day with swim lessons for Peyton and Charlie.  After Peyton's lesson I took her to meet my sister and her family at the Magic House for a Fall Farm Fest.  Peyton had fun petting baby cows and learning about local farming.  After lunch and naps we headed out on our anniversary fun day.  The traditional gift for year 6 is iron.  I took some creative liberties and planned a mini golf outing (nine iron). Jason's gift was tickets to a Rams game (grid iron).  Jason took the more literal route and got me a beautiful handmade cast iron heart with our names and wedding date etched into it.  It was a beautiful day for mini golf and the kids did pretty well.  Charlie especially had a great time.  Peyton lasted about halfway through the course before she got bored with it and Nora melted down about the same time.

After golfing everyone was getting hungry and a little cranky.  There were a few mini meltdowns in the car but we got everyone settled down and went to get dinner at Llewellyn's in Webster.  Jason and I ordered beers and just had to laugh at the emotional ups and downs of taking 3 small kids out and about.

Once we got some food in the kids they bounced back and were in great moods so it was on to our next stop - an outdoor showing of Frozen at Brentwood Park.  I wasn't sure how this would go after a full day of activities and the movie starting around normal bedtime, but the kids did great!  Peyton and Charlie were both in awe of watching a movie outside!  It was a cool night and it was fun to huddle together under blankets and watch the movie under the stars.  We didn't quite make it through the whole movie due to Nora.  Not sure if she was tired or cold or just overstimulated but she was not happy!  Of course as soon as we walked in the door she was all smiles.  She's a trickster that one!  Peyton and Charlie were tired though and were ok with leaving before the movie was over.  It was such a fun day celebrating 6 years and this crazy wonderful life we have created.

Accessories

Peyton has been very into accessories lately. She wears (multiple) necklaces, bracelets and a headband everyday.  She says that's what princesses wear and she wants to be like a princess (she's VERY into princesses right now!).  She wears dresses everyday unless we are going to the park and I ask her to wear play clothes.  She told Jason that she doesn't like to wear pants because she isn't a prince.  One day we were out in the front yard playing and she had on her black dress shoes (that she wears everyday) and got dirt in them.  I suggested that she wear tennis shoes when we are outside playing to which she replied "I'm not a MAN!".  I couldn't help but laugh.  I explained to her that girls wear tennis shoes too but I'm not sure she was convinced.  I love watching her form her own interests and opinions and am curious to see how long this "princess" phase lasts!

I did eventually manage to convince her that wearing only one or two necklaces looked nice too instead of seven! You could hear  her coming with all those beads ;)

Nora: 2 Months

At 2 months Nora:

  • Weighed in at 11lbs 7 oz (54%) and 23.25 inch (82%)
  • Is smiling and cooing!  She has the sweetest little voice and the greatest smile.
  • Has very expressive eye brows.
  • Loves to watch her siblings
  • Loves to lay on the floor and play and kick her legs
  • Is still a great sleeper.  She has been sleeping through the night for the past few weeks - going 9-10 hours at night!  She's on a pretty consistent nap routine too.  I am amazed and grateful for how well she sleeps!
  • Has great head control
  • Rolls onto her side from her back.  I don't think it will be long before she goes over!
  • Has discovered her fist and likes to suck on it.
  • Is growing too fast.  It's impossible to believe she is already 2 months old!

Mama's Home!

This is how Charlie greets me when I pick him up from school as he runs into my arms. He is so excited and just keeps saying "mamas home!". It melts my heart every time! Drop off isn't always smooth with him but he's always all smiles and hugs at pick up. My sweet little guy!

Nora: One Month

Nora's first month flew by and I know time is not going to slow down. I'm trying to savor every of minute of this newborn stage!

At one month Nora:

  • Is a rockstar sleeper.  She is averaging 8 hours at night and last night slept 10 hours!  Getting good sleep has made the transition from 2-3 kids much easier for Jason and me.
  • Is starting to smile and coo.  I love her sweet smile and love seeing it more and more.
  • Loves to watch Peyton and Charlie.  I think Peyton has gotten some of the biggest smiles out of her!
  • Weighed in at 10 lbs 5 oz and 22 in
  • Is already outgrowing her newborn clothes
  •  Is really strong.  She is doing well holding her head up.
  • Took her first bottle from Jason
  • Likes to be held up on my shoulder or chest.  There is nothing better than when she snuggles into my chest and sleeps!
  • Likes to lay on the playmat.  We tried it out for the first time yesterday and she had a great time kicking her legs and smiling at the toys hanging above her.
  • Is pretty content most of the time but watch out when she gets mad.  She is LOUD and gets very red in the face!
  • Is losing her beautiful dark hair!  She has a bit of a receding hair line.  I hope she doesn't loose too much.
  • Nicknames: I tend to call her Sis a lot.

Charlie always gives her kisses right on the mouth!
