Birthday Fun!

We did a lot of celebrating over the weekend for Jason's birthday. We started off with a nice dinner on Thursday (his actual birthday) just the two of us at Jimmy's on the Park. It happened to be Clayton Restaurant week so we were able to try out this nice restaurant without spending too much money! We got a 3 course meal for $25/person. Not a bad deal! The food was delicious and it was nice to spend the evening together. I also gave Jason his present on Thursday- a framed picture of our last name spelled out of different architectural designs.

I ordered this from Etsy seller Java Jane Designs and she did a great job! I think he liked it and it looks great hanging in our basement above our gallery of wedding pictures!

Friday night we had dinner with Jason's family at Frank Papa's, a little Italian place down the street from our house. The food was good and we enjoyed catching up with Jason's parents and his sister and her boyfriend. After dinner everyone came back to our house for cake. Every year I make Jason a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting all from scratch. He loves it! It was quite tasty if I do say so myself ;) Jason got the Mario Brothers game for Wii that he has been wanting and some money to buy a pack of tickets for the upcoming Cardinals season.

Saturday was another busy day. We woke up early and started making dinner, homemade gumbo. I'll have to post this recipe. It's so easy and so good! Basically throw everything in the crock pot and let it cook for 8-10 hours.

My parents and Scott and Millie joined us for dinner. Unfortunately, Merrill wasn't feeling well so Shannon stayed home with her. Scott and Shannon were supposed to go out with us for the night but obviously little people come first - especially sick little people! I think Merrill just didn't want to let her parents go out for a night ;) The gumbo turned out great and we just about finished off that chocolate cake! Millie was a total Jason's girl and spent most of the night playing and "shopping" with him. Jason picked up some new tools, new music and pictures of him with his nieces. Multiple birthday parties is not a bad thing :)

Saturday night we had a group of friends over before heading to a Double D's, a karaoke bar near our house. We had a blast with our friends although only one of them actually sang karaoke! She did a fabulous rendition of "Total Eclipse of the Heart"!

Thanks to everyone for making Jason's birthday weekend so much fun. We had a great time celebrating with everyone!
